The Mandarin and Gladys

In These Are My People, Gladys Aylward is a missionary in China. The Manderin is the ruler of Yangcheng, a city. They are alike and different in many ways.

They both tried to defend China against the Japanese. Gladys helped her adopted children get away from the Japanese's attack. The Mandarin gave them grain to eat on the way. They both love China. And they both accepted God.

The Mandarin is respected more, but the people like Gladys better. Gladys is a missionary and the Mandarin rules the land. Gladys had some education from Mrs. Lawson and Yang from The Inn of the Eight Happinesses. The Mandarin was educated well. I liked the book.
